in the military we agonize and theorize over ethics, LOAC, Civ-Mil relations, strategy, theories of victory, etc etc etc. These concepts may be (likely are!) completely foreign to a newly elected head of state, much to our regret. There's no training that prepares a pol for these responsibilities

But also: "The Navy is moving to accelerate the Landing Ship Medium program."

I know young Marines who hit the Fleet at the very end of OEF and talk about feeling like they missed the wars, and I tell them there were Marines just like them who joined in 1945 and ended up painting rocks at the new Camp Pendleton, not knowing a few years later they'd be at Chosin Reservoir.

But for real tho, did you see photos of the cake from the Commandant's Ball? It was metal AF.

But seeing the dates on this makes me feel a LOT more forgiving of myself on my long timeline. Granted, I've been busy with several major life events, but just the same...

Thanks for the humility of admitting to a bench top being glued up on 2022. I started a Moravian bench in May 2023 when I left the service and it's been moving around my shop since then. This shutdown I've been working on actually getting it finished (along with the other backlog of projects).

Thanks for this- I'm about to mount a tail vise to my bench. Having this example is handy, and photos like this are hard to come by.
