Predator: Badlands was a great movie I caught tonight. Director Dan Trachtenberg should be in charge of this franchise moving forward since he’s now 3 for 3 in excellent films (this, Killer of Killers, and Prey). Definitely worth watching 👍🏻👍🏻

Got myself a real solid haul from Barnes & Noble to celebrate my 31st birthday. After using the $160 in rewards from my membership and a $5 birthday coupon from their website, this all came out to $100; real win in my book and I look forward to diving into these movies/books ^.^

Another year around the sun, another level up in life. Hard to believe I’m now 31 yet I still look forward to what life brings me down the road ^.^

That time of year is here again, and now I got to decide which horror title(s) from Scream! Factory I should watch again. Definitely spoiled for choice cause I have a good healthy amount from the last 100+ years of cinema history.

Saw the most vibrant rainbow in years right in our backyard; this is a sign that despite what’s happening in our crazy country, there is indeed light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe this is the real punk rock, as Superman would say ^.^

Just got out of seeing the last major release of August, and it was a blast; if After Hours (1985) had a cousin, this movie would be it. Worth checking out 👍🏻👍🏻

Barnes & Noble always provides me with what I seek during their 50% Criterion sale (the two Kino Lorber Studio Classics titles and Arrow Video 4K were bonuses); long live #PhysicalMedia

A trip to the local pop culture shop at the mall means a Minus One Godzilla figure gets to come home with me; you can never have too much of the Big G before his 71st anniversary comes in November lol

First week of Pride Month ended on a high note with an after party for all the New Mexico furries to escape the blazing heat, with the newly weds @calamityfox.bsky.social and @victormutt.bsky.social easily winning “The Most Stylish Attire” cred when they showed up ^.^

Wonder what @victormutt.bsky.social and I are thinking about as we looked at the cityscape of Albuquerque from Pat Hurley Park yesterday before a storm rolled in; could be anything, really

Paddington 3 was a real joy to see in theaters after it had been playing in British cinemas since November 2024 and finally came stateside. I had a lot of fun watching this and was a perfect way for a cinephile to spend Valentine’s Day 👍🏻👍🏻

February 2025 has already given me three very different movies that I ended up really enjoying; that’s gotta be a first for me given how January and February are notorious for being called “Dumping Ground Season” so hopefully that means the rest of the year’s output will be great 👍🏻

26,443 movies made and released over the past one hundred plus years around the world, and I own 2,381 on Blu-ray. Definitely got myself a long ways to go in making these movie guides, but I think this is a solid enough start #FilmHistorianStuff

The average life of a videographer for your local furry community in one image: working on furmeet videos and making them entertaining for your YouTube channel. Hopefully before the middle of 2025 they’ll all be done so I can work on the new batch of videos for this year ^.^

Christmas haul for today, evenly split between what I can use/wear for daily use and what I can watch on my TV; definitely was a Kino Lorber Studio Classics kind of Christmas for me 😎

Ever wondered what my fursona would look like as an ornament? Well here he is, a gift I got from @calamityfox.bsky.social and @victormutt.bsky.social at a Christmas party last night. Thank you both again for this cute version of Matt 😁

I know it’s hella early, but the animation historian in me said “Buy this along with the Criterions you picked at Barnes & Noble cause you’re going to have to document them in your encyclopedia anyways”, so I did. Looking forward to going through all of them soon ^.^

Hard to believe today marks 70 years of Godzilla! He’s been a childhood favorite when I first saw his movies, and as a seasoned film historian he still remains one of the most popular and beloved pop culture icons in the world in my eyes. Happy 70th anniversary to the Big G 🎊🎉

I’m a simple film buff: anytime I visit Barnes & Noble to see if they have any interesting books about film history or the making of a particular film/franchise, I always buy the ones that catch my eye. Looking forward to reading these titles this weekend ^.^

Barnes & Noble never fails to give this cinephile what he wants: a 50% sale on Arrow Video titles and for a specific amount of titles you purchase, you get a free tote bag with the company’s logo on it. I’ve got my weekend all set now lol

Saw the latest installment of Ti West’s X trilogy last night; I really enjoyed it. Everything from giallo films to neo-noir gets a shoutout while being set against the backdrop of the real Night Stalker killings of 1985. Would definitely watch it again 👍🏻👍🏻

Since today is the heavenly birthday of Tex Avery, I’m celebrating such an occasion by rewatching his entire MGM catalogue that got released on Blu-ray a couple years ago. This man’s animated shorts definitely had a hand in influencing my sense of humor and they keep getting funnier every time ^.^

Behold, the Christmas stash of a movie buff. Looking forward into reading The Cannon Film Guide Vol. 1 and 2 and rewatching Face/Off, which happens to be my favorite American film from John Woo. Merry Christmas indeed ^.^

RIP to Kenpachiro Satsuma, the man who played Godzilla consistently in all seven of the Heisei Era movies (1984-1995). I loved how he made the Big G more distinct from the Showa Era incarnation, and he will be missed by all of us Godzilla fans (including me).

After three continuous hours, I finally got the birthday gift I got from my family assembled. Now comes the tricky part: where to place it in my office lol
