It’s not metaphysics but this reminded me of that time a priest completely changed my understanding of Santa Clause using science.

Steven Greydanus perfectly highlighting this point in an old piece defending the film from its haters.

Fans keep clamoring for them to fight each other, when really they’re both pretty chill with one another.

Reminder that Violet Affleck addressed the U.N. on the continued dangers of COVID and absolutely did not mince words.

THUNDERBOLTS.

Easily the best MCU movie in years but also just a good story about a bunch of “losers” coming to understand their own worth and the value of CHOOSING to love others, even if they don’t necessarily want to.

SUPERMAN.

The story of a man who chooses to be good and kind and see the value in every person even if the rest of the world hates him for it. Also for helping popularize the idea that kindness is the real punk rock.

ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER.

A lot that I could unpack about this one but primarily, it was just super refreshing to see a movie where Catholicism is portrayed as an inherently revolutionary religion that stands in stark opposition to white supremacy.

THE NAKED GUN.

Nothing really profound about this one. It just made me laugh harder than I’ve laughed in ages. A well-needed respite. Also just nice to see such an absurd comedy starring primarily older actors.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: THE FINAL RECKONING.

Not quite the epic conclusion I was hoping for but still a solid movie that is very clearly Pro-Human and extremely Anti-AI. We really need that nowadays.

K-POP DEMON HUNTERS.

The movie and music are wonderful but the time spent geeking out over it with some of my friends has been just as wonderful.

Weird how the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE series (of all things) understands the real-world impact and dangers of AI better than most other fiction right now.
