The termination of 383 #NIH funded clinical trials included studies of Covid 19 & HIV. More than 100 grants funded #Cancer research terminated. Some clinical trials sites were shut down. 74,000 participants affected. Short-sighted actions will lead to long term losses.

For the second time in 2025, peer review meetings at NIH have been significantly disrupted. This leads to burdens on the system down the road: rescheduling meetings in a tight timeline, impacting council meetings, and impacting the lives of those who submitted applications.

Dr. Jane Goodall has died. She was 91.

It is impossible to sum up the impact she has had on our world and on science in a social media post.

She lived a long and incredible life but I am devastated.

Hearing that all 27 NIH institutes have been instructed to stop using "paylines" in funding decisions starting Oct 1. Order issued in the last 48 hours.

Using paylines means scientific peer reviewers control funding decisions.
Removing them allows more political interference. 🧪
