We cannot be under-prepared at this critical moment when President Trump is escalating his attacks on cities and carrying out his cruel deportation agenda on our immigrant and refugee neighbors with warrantless arrests by masked, un-identifiable officers.

The second Executive Order strengthens services for immigrant and refugee communities and will develop new legislation to prohibit the practice of masked, non-uniformed federal agents conducting immigration enforcement raids within the city.

The first Executive Order protects local communities and control over law enforcement resources in the event that federalized National Guard troops are deployed to Seattle.

This critical partnership between the City of Seattle and King County ensures vulnerable families won’t lose WIC benefits due to partisan politics in Washington, D.C. Republicans in Congress must prioritize families over political games and end this shutdown. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...
King County families could get WIC vouchers if shutdown persists
If the federal government shutdown persists, King County and Seattle will offer financial help to families in the Women, Infants, and Children program.

I encourage all fans in Seattle to wear Mariners team colors and show off your favorite Mariners gear on Friday, October 3, whether you’re heading to work or school. Let’s rally together and show our support for the team!

30 years ago today, on October 2, 1995, the @mariners.com beat the Angels in the AL West tiebreaker to clinch the franchise’s first postseason appearance. Today, I’m proud to proclaim October as the Month of Mariners as they begin their playoff journey this weekend.

Last week, I joined community members in West Seattle for the Peace For All Rally on the United Nations' International Day of Peace. This was a reminder of our shared responsibility to reject hate and strengthen unity across our city, nation, and world.

Our president fundamentally fails to understand what makes America special. He sees cities as "war-ravaged" military "training grounds" and political enemies because they didn't vote for him. Cities are hubs of innovation, drivers of culture, and contribute 90% of America's GDP.

This morning, @mayorofseattle.bsky.social & @atg.wa.gov Nick Brown responded to Trump’s use of military force in U.S. cities, stressing local and state coordination to keep the public informed, protect rights, and maintain local control of law enforcement.

In the coming days, I’ll issue an Executive Order detailing our actions to prepare our city, protect residents, and preserve local control if Trump attempts to deploy troops to Seattle. Our city will remain united.

Cities do not need the federal government bringing in armored vehicles, semiautomatic weapons, and military personnel to make them safer. This strategy only serves to escalate tensions and sow fear and distrust in communities.

Trump’s actions in Portland are distinctly un-American, and we must speak up against this egregious abuse of power. We stand united with Attorney General Nick Brown and other City leaders with a clear message to President Trump: stay out of Seattle.

I have spoken to Portland Mayor Keith Wilson and offered my support and Seattle’s collective support. Trump's threats against American cities are illegal, authoritarian, and an attempt to silence free speech and intimidate the American people. We stand united.
