Completely revamped the title font today. Went for something blockier and more readable - the old ornate version looked nice but had an awkward word layout. To be honest, the ridiculously long game title is to blame!

New enemy type! I actually wanted to make a simple up-and-down moving sawblade, but what came out instead is a bunny with supernatural jump power. It’s got sharp teeth, too - two of them.

My game has snails now. What you do with them is entirely up to you.
I also upgraded the HUD - speed is now shown in horsepower (hp).
The knight got a bit sportier … he can duck now, too.

My minigame now has classic coins! You’ll be able to trade them for upgrades later on - more stamina, extra power, a shield … you name it.

Switching from #Construct3 to #Godot was totally worth it. Rebuilt everything in just 4 days.

Godot feels super solid on the Silicon Mac and is way less complicated than I expected. I think I’ll stick with it!

Turns out the ZIP file from #ChatGPT just caused a crash - so, no Skynet (yet). #gamedev

Me - a total non-programmer - asked #ChatGPT to convert my current #Construct3 project into a #Godot project. One I could just open in Godot and hit play.

Now I’m staring at the screen, with a finished ZIP file in front of me.

Let’s hope Skynet wasn’t involved …

The end is near! Only one event left. Should I stick with Construct 3 and move to the paid version?

I do like Construct 3, but the event system feels a bit clunky at times. Plus, the scrolling in my game was pretty choppy.

Maybe I should give Godot a try before I decide …

Simple 3x5 pixelfont for HUD and other ingame stuff.

Tried making pixel fonts on the iPad with Pixquare - worked perfectly!

Sure, these fonts exist online already, but sometimes it’s just fun to make them yourself.

Another TrueType recreation of a C64 font – this time from Konami’s Yie Ar Kung-Fu. I recreated this charset with TypeTool 3, and unlike yesterday’s Gauntlet, it stays crisp even at 8 pt/px.

Today I doubled the width of the tileset and polished up a few details. I didn’t really plan to spend that much time on it, but pushing pixels is just way more fun than doing JavaScript.
