Found it! Not surprisingly, it’s called a butterfly orb weaver! They come in a range of colors, but I like my orange butterfly best!

A few hours later, I checked the spider’s hidey-hole on the underside of the side-view mirror, and I thought it had managed to climb back up into its former home. Careful probing proved this to be a well-preserved molt.

Driving around Elmwood yesterday and passed by this business and…it's exactly what you'd expect it to be.
