Photographer, recovering attorney, 4x Jeopardy champion, fabulous cook, widow of writer Len Wein.
I remember it well. There were magazines and newspapers and book publishers who disappeared and destroyed the income of many of my peers. Between that and digitization, I saw the writing on the wall and made a left turn to go to law school.

Just like Phyllis. There’s a four-letter word for both of them.

I’ve lost count of how many copies of Melissa Clark’s Dinner: Changing the Game, Toni Tipton-Martin’s Jubilee, and Yotem Ottolenghi’s Simple I have given away. My copies are filled with tabs and notes. For Italian. I’d go for Marcella Hazan’s Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking.

You might ask Walt, since he is still around to answer, but I expect Len did let him know what he wanted in each frame. Len was trained as a visual artist because he wanted to be a comic book artist from the time he was about 8. He just happened to have more talent as a writer.

Len Wein was very proud of this little story, and Shultz apparently liked it, too. Great artwork by Walt.
