The Alfred Bester book Margaret mentions is known both as "Tiger! Tiger!" and "The Stars My Destination". IIRC, had different titles in the UK and US. It's a sci-fi Count of Monte Cristo for much of the story, and indeed ends with the main character handing out psychically triggered explosives

The opposite end of the spectrum has to go to a little known movie called Titanic. I mean, losing your necklace in the sea and finding it decades later makes sense, but it's not at all plausible a ship that big could sink

I'm now imagining a deflated you needing to be refilled once the multitudes are rounded up post explosion, ala Captain Atom

The manager had decided the server needed cleaning, and was pulling each drive, giving it a spray with canned air, and popping it back in.
We explained just how close he'd come to wrecking his and our nights. It was a 3 hour fix we'd have to walk him through if he'd gotten to just 1 more drive

One night we started seeing the indicators for a store's server drives going off, then rebuilding. Each of the main drives one by one. We frantically called the store and got ahold of the manager right before they pulled the first backup drive and crashed the store 20 minutes before closing

It took a few minutes for a rebuild to run, and if one drive was pulled while it's paired drive was trying to rebuild from it, the server would crash and take the whole store down.
At the help desk we had a big monitor showing the stores and indicator lights for their servers and drives
