White, 40s, lifelong Dem, lifelong Iowan, permanently single, no kids (except for my dad sometimes (I live with him)). Maintaining my last shreds of sanity going forward will hinge on my sports teams, cozy mysteries, and cats (dogs are cool, too).

I am NOT an optimist but I do run on just enough hope to roll out of bed and won’t tolerate doom-and-gloom. I pick my battles carefully for my sanity. I will not be offended if that’s a problem for you. I wish you all the best, provided you did the right thing in November because I can be PETTY.
I had a very Monday-like Sunday so I’m hoping today is less…that.

Ended up with about 2X as much snow as we were expecting (fitting since we didn’t get as much last weekend; balances out). Anyway, Dad’s snowblowing and I should see to the brunch muffins. No Christmas to do since I finished the tree. Today is going to be football and my book stack. Stay warm!

I am officially finished decorating. I will take more pictures of my decorations tomorrow but it’s too dark to do it effectively tonight. Here’s a picture of the tree I took earlier, though, because I wanted the falling snow in the background.

It’s snowing as I prepare to put some ornaments on the tree. Very Christmas-y scene. 🌲

This day did NOT start out well but absolutely dominating the #1 ranked team in the nation on their home court certainly makes me a lot less grumpy.

I got the decorations finished! And now I’m waiting on Dad to help me set the tree up. This weekend is supposed to be more snow so we’ll have plenty of time while watching football.

Hoping to finish the rest of the decorating today we can put the tree up this weekend. No distractions. Except that…and that…LOL

Yesterday was a more productive day on the Christmas front. Not done yet but feel better about my progress for sure. Need to get groceries and replenish our cleaning supplies today, though. So I should probably get on with the list-making.

Didn’t end up getting much decorating done yesterday between running errands that had to wait from the snowstorm and some other stuff that got neglected last night. Should have more time today. Need to get some stuff out of the way before we out the tree up. And I would like to do that soon.

I have a little more pep in my step this morning. Now I just need to find the pictures I took decorating last year. Gives me some idea where I put everything even if I decide to do it a little differently this year.

Hit an energy wall today. Hopefully it comes back soon, But I must say today has been enjoyable sports-wise: WBB win featuring massive Audi performance, Bears are #1 for a little while at least, AND Cyclone wrestling just won their first dual meet against Iowa since 2004 on national TV no less. 👍 👍

It started snowing about 5/5:30 and has been steadily doing so since. Not ever very hard (and tiny flakes) so it hasn’t accumulated a ton yet. Right now it’s just making for some nice evening scenery.
