It may not even be fraudulent. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (who finance a bulk of home loans in the U.S.) allow rental income on 2nd homes if the loan meets other 2nd home requirements. Would love to see the indictment and supporting docs on this case...

Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac guidelines (which lenders use to finance a majority of home loans) allow rental income on 2nd homes if the loan meets the other requirements. Don't know all the details of her loan, but it's possible she meets those requirements & it's a perfectly legit 2nd home transaction
