There is a lot of weird stuff to look at in Mineral Wells.

I can’t wait to go back.

Honestly, in spite of a festive street fair going on at the same time we were there, this town gave off some really creepy vibes.

Like these awnings, which made me nervous even though their ONLY JOB is to protect the stuff beneath them.

Barbershops fascinate me, for reasons that I can’t figure out.

But anyway, I can’t recall seeing one that had such modern lighting. (Also I did enjoy the way the two capes were draped over the chairs.)

I was walking toward the mural to get a photo and noticed the reflection in the car window; my trip was halted right then.

Sometimes I can be easily distracted…

At some point this was a hospital – the Nazareth Hospital – and then at a different point it was abandoned and had sheet metal over some of the windows and a barbed wire fence around it.

The weather was changing: winter was on the way.

But it was 70 degrees when I made the photo of a golden weathervane and an abandoned hospital.

On the other side of the creepy building from yesterday’s post, I encountered a raccoon taking a nap. Sort of a permanent one, if you know what I mean.

If you’re tall, or can stretch your camera over your head for a photo, you can see inside what I believe to be an exam room of some sort.

All I know is the place was abandoned and it had a creepy vibe even before I made this picture.

When I go past a church I didn’t even know was there and the afternoon light is flooding a window on the far side of the building, I like to think the light appreciates my faith in its ability to do the right thing.

And here’s a close up of the damage from the huge Hermits Peak/Calf Creek forest fire – that’s Hermits Peak, looming above the dead-standing trees. The ridge on the top of the peak is rimmed with dead trees, too: the scope of the fire is really hard to understand.
