Even if you know what a bond is, if you hadn't bought government bonds (gilts) before, have just signed up to a platform you have never used before and are confronted with this list of options (if you can find it) it's perfectly understandable that most people would find it confusing/ difficult...

The percentage of 18-25 year olds with a cash ISA is second only to the 25-34 age group.

A majority of people in every age group don't have any ISA at all.

Of those that do have a cash ISA and pay into it, only 10% use the maximum £20,000 allowance.

Over two-thirds (67%) of those paying only into a cash ISA contribute less than £5,000.

Easily beat an S&P 500 index fund over the past 5 years, not bad for a UK only fund.

That same investment podcast that had Liz Truss as a guest recently also had this guy on as a guest on a recent episode. Think they should probably change their podcast name as I have no idea what either of them have to contribute on investing?!

So one example - this is a haircare products company with a Google ads account in their name linking to fake BBC news sites promoting a cryptocurrency investment scam:

In this case, the company was dissolved over a year ago, but most are from active ones

"several individuals associated with Brownstone now occupy high-ranking positions within the U.S. executive branch. "concern that the organization amplifies contrarian narratives that do not align with the broader body of scientific evidence, particularly regarding vaccination & post-vaccine risks."

A lot of people may think that their ISA / pension being invested in a global index fund (eg an MSCI World index tracker) means that it's highly diversified, being invested in 1320 companies & multiple countries. But 72% of that index is the US and over a quarter (27%) is invested in just 10 stocks

In the UK, the lowest rate for decades applies outside of London too:

England and Wales - lowest since the 1970s.

Scotland - lowest for 50 years (mid 1970s):

Overall the UK is basically in line with the European average - not an outlier by any means.

Also: "Black people were disproportionately likely to be victims across all age groups. This was particularly acute between the ages of 10 and 29 years, with Black males around 13 times more likely to be a victim of homicide than similarly aged White males."

Some people might be surprised that the iShares UK dividend etf (all UK shares) has outperformed the US S&P 500 over the past 5 years, 1 year and year to date. (In GBP and performance is very different over 10 years of course).
