My Google news feed has started to show what are obviously ai generated articles on repurposed sites (for example the domain will be xyzplumbing or something, so originally used by a plumbing company I assume). Then the site is plastered with garbage ads, so garbage and, garbage 'article'.

Trustpilot to this and them having done nothing I asked why and repeated the explanation of what had happened - they still did nothing. A year later and they have still not acted. So for 2 years they have put their users at risk of scams, malware etc and failed to remove hundreds of fake reviews.

I gave a step by step explanation to Trustpilot (with screenshot examples) of the mass hijacking of their site. I even told them who was doing it (an individual in France) who had posted a YouTube video boasting about it and offering his 'Trustpilot hijack' method for sale.

Most of the listings were for dubious weight loss products and other 'health' products, often with hidden rebill offers. Because the website of each listing is a subdomain with a redirect the destination URL can be changed at any time. Many of the links went to outright scams or sites with malware.

Trustpilot allowed their site to be hijacked by someone who used sub domains with a redirect to insert their affiliate link into the site URL. They then flooded the site with hundreds of duplicate listings and thousands of fake reviews.

Trustpilot were made aware of this 2 years ago & did nothing.

Even if you know what a bond is, if you hadn't bought government bonds (gilts) before, have just signed up to a platform you have never used before and are confronted with this list of options (if you can find it) it's perfectly understandable that most people would find it confusing/ difficult...

I literally didn't have 50p or whatever it cost at the time (long time ago!) to buy a can of beer to celebrate my 21st birthday, nevermind go to the pub or on a night out. Spent the night at home playing trivial pursuit with flatmates and had one can of beer (a flatmate gave me one of his).

Short term money market funds invest in very short term debt, both government (gilts) and corporate bonds as well as certificates of deposit etc. They are mainly used by pension funds, corporates, charities etc to hold cash, but there are retail investor funds too.

Policy doesn't come in until April 2027, by which time cash ISA interest rates might be down to around 2%. Plus you have your personal savings allowance - so for most people there may be no tax advantage anyway and could just use a non ISA savings account...

A majority of people in every age group don't have any ISA at all.

Of those that do have a cash ISA and pay into it, only 10% use the maximum £20,000 allowance.

Over two-thirds (67%) of those paying only into a cash ISA contribute less than £5,000.

yield (interest rate) available on cash ISA accounts, with the possibility of capital appreciation and income (dividend) growth. Point being there is a risk spectrum and you don't even have to invest in shares at all. Plus with interest rates likely to fall, interest rates on cash ISAs will too.

For a bit more risk there are corporate bond funds, gilt/ treasury funds / ETFs which offer higher yields/ returns than cash and money market funds. Then there are for example property reits with recession proof properties and rents paid by the government (NHS surgeries etc) with around double the

You can have 'cash like' investments in a shares ISA anyway - not risk free, but still relatively very low risk and similar returns (eg: money market funds / ETFs) and you also usually also get some interest on uninvested cash (although you are supposed to invest it eventually, it's not enforced).
