Masa para tamales is made with pork fat. This is why tamales are so insanely satisfying to eat . pure comfort food. Of course you can substitute a nice rich vegetable fat. If you have to I imagine that either coconut oil or olive oil could be quite satisfying.

This is a reminder that we had some really good movies in 2025. I’d forgotten about the Looney Tunes movie, which was really good. I liked Mountainhead. I think it was intended as satire but came off as realistic.

I’ve actually never had a honey crisp because I first tasted the sugar bee apple, which is a hybrid of the Honeycrisp and it blew me away so much that I don’t want to try something that might only be halfway to a sugar bee.
