This is a bipartisan project btw! Making children represent themselves in court to have a shot at being American is a point of agreement between the Democratic and Republican parties! We are an atrocious country doing atrocious things!

Great reporting and a knockout final line:

“Not long after, as the sun was going down, an SUV with tinted windows and an out-of-state license plate was seen barreling down a nearby street. It was followed closely by three cars, with drivers laying on their horns and whistling.”

Think much of the over-parenting we despise stems from the early on fear of the driver.
If parents weren't terrified of our streets kids would have so much more freedom and independence which might get them comfortable with their children's ability to navigate the world without them.

notice how many of them mention, at ALL, the two decade history of disastrous previous Time Warner mergers, and the massive layoffs, price hikes, and quality erosion that resulted

there are of course many examples of political constituencies that have in fact killed scores of children (en route to some other evil goal), but I can't offhand think of any historical examples of a political constituency organized for that specific purpose
Breaking: After contentious debates and three failed attempts at a vote, a federal vaccine committee decided on Friday to end the decades-long recommendation that all newborns be immunized at birth against hepatitis B.

I dream of a world where Amazon is nationalized. It's the same world where Bezos gets my old job loading pallets of processed cheese into semi-trailers.
🚨SCOOP: Amazon is preparing to sever ties with USPS and expand its shipping network as a true coast-to-coast rival.

It could cost USPS more than *$6 billion* a year in lost revenue, and lead Amazon to dominate yet another facet of the economy.

USPS posted a *$9 billion* loss in 2025.

This is not true. This is argument that pro-gun people use to discount red flag and waiting period laws. Ease of access and lethality (let alone cheerful instruction in the best method!) is the #1 predictor of attempts leading actual completion. The more barriers, the more people live.
I think it's fine Chat GPT is telling people how to kill themselves. They'll figure it out one way or another if they're serious.

The normalization of this madness is so quick that we’re debating whether a second illegal strike was wrong after an initial illegal strike with no proof of any crime and we’ve already seen just random murders of fishermen normalized with the excuse they’re running drugs, which isn’t legal either.

When a deranged sociopath starts screaming hateful nonsense on the bus, the best we can do is keep our heads down and hope the driver kicks him off. Trump is that guy with the biggest megaphone in the world, and there is no driver. We’ve never had a societal answer for this type of guy at any scale
i'd go even further and say there is a reason even nixon kept this kind of stuff to himself. you would have to go back quite a bit to find a point at which is acceptable for a president to say anything like this *in public*, to say nothing of in the oval office.
I don’t want to be pollyannish about the past, but it was basically inconceivable twenty years ago that a president would say this publicly
