On the eighth day of #Mörktober, the word is wizard (for Pirate Borg; art by me, text by
@metamer.bsky.social)
A sketch of a historical cap that's flipped over and being used as a mortar. Vials of unknown substances are strapped to the hat's buckled band along with an old syringe. Green fluid drips from the brim as gauzy smoke spills and wafts. The text reads Arcanum of the School of Night : An old and frayed hat, modified to be used as an alchemical mortar and pestle. Rumored to have once been owned by Henry Percy, 9th Earl of Northumberland. Presence checks to craft alchemical potions are -2 DR while using it.

A sketch of an 18th century women's coiffure made of pieces of broken glass with the text "The Crystalline Coiffure: Impossibly crafted from shards of broken glass. Captivating, reflective, and sharp. The wearer's reaction rolls are rolled with 3d4 instead of 2d6."

A drawing of a blood-stained worker's cap with the text "Carver's Cap: The original owner is unknown, but it has accumulated the stains of their work and those who have since acquired it. The wearer's dreams become filled with dim memories of brutality. Violence being always in mind initiative rolls are at +1."

On the fourth day of #Mörktober, we howl (for Pirate Borg; art by me, text by @metamer.bsky.social)
A sketch of a banshee ripping free of its prison; a historical irish cap called a caubeen. The text reads Banshee's Bonnet. A banshee haunts this hat. When the wearer is hit by an attack, they may choose to release the spirit. Doing so breaks the hat in an eruption of howling rage. The wearer's next attack and next defense roll are at -4 DR due to the ghost's escape.

For the second day of #Mörktober, a maw wig for #PirateBorg (Art by me, text by @metamer.bsky.social)

#Mörkborg
Ink Sketch of a monsterous periwig; a fanged maw opens up at the top with lashing, slobbery tongue. A splash of grim red is in the background of a dark backdrop. The description text of the image reads Perilous Periwig: Within the curls of the periwig is a hidden maw. On a melee defense roll of a natural 19, the maw manages to bite the attacker, dealing 1d4 damage. On attack roll fumbles, the wearer has managed to get their limbs too close to the maw, dealing 1d4 damage instead of the usual fumble rules.

For the first day of #Mörktober, a Frog hat for #PirateBorg (text by me, art by @lostarot.bsky.social):
A picture of a tricorn hat with its tongue sticking out and the following Pirate Borg game text: "Le Chapeau a la Grenouille: This hat looks like a large, taxidermied frog. When the wearer suffers a fall of any significance, the frog's tongue lashes out, attempting to grapple a nearby surface. The wearer makes an additional roll on the check to avoid falling."

Speak the truth, said Teddy Roosevelt.
"Free speech, exercised both individually and through a free press, is a necessity in any country where the people are themselves free. Our Government is the servant of the people, whereas in Germany it is the master of the people. This is because the American people are free and the German are not free. The President is merely the most important among a large number of public servants. He should be supported or opposed exactly to the degree which is warranted by his good conduct or bad conduct, his efficiency or inefficiency in rendering loyal, able, and disinterested service to the Nation as a whole. Therefore it is absolutely necessary that there should be full liberty to tell the truth about his acts, and this means that it is exactly necessary to blame him when he does wrong as to praise him when he does right. Any other attitude in an American citizen is both base and servile. To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

B) System specific. If I pickup a system agnostic adventure it tends to be more work to implement it as the system's mechanics have to be worked out and applied to it. Which makes me less likely to pick it up in the first place.

I made a thing for Pirate Borg! An Acre of Barren Ground is a brochure-style adventure (and cocktail recipe) that was very loosely inspired by watching The Lighthouse and thinking about "Jaquaysing" dungeon design. Print edition forthcoming.
