Our three-year-old often holds the controller upside down, finger's crossed this print helps 🤞. makerworld.com/models/1492385

It's nice being on the ice again after many years. The kids loved it. Next time, I must bring a sled to do a few rounds with them.

The winter downtime reading hattrick is done by rereading a book every software engineer should know: Philosophy of Software Design by John Ousterhout. It's a concise journey with practical advice on reducing software complexity. I ended up with more notes than the publisher allowed 🙃.

The second read was an unplanned follow-up on Building a Second Brain with The PARA Method. It's a quick read with guidance for personal knowledge management, no rocket science, but that's the point: it is simple and fast to install. I’ll use it as guidance to revamp my knowledge hoarding.

I am happy to finish my second winter downtime project — ending the year with the Festive 500 challenge. It was a grind this year, as my time window for riding is late at night and indoors. Putting a checkmark behind this challenge feels excellent, though. content.rapha.cc/at/en/story/...

I had to add this excavator; we now have enough construction site vehicles. Junior loves it, and his cousin's “order” is already coming. makerworld.com/models/876444

If you have kids and a 3D printer, try these models. After printing the excavator for our youngest, I had to do multiple for others. Everyone instantly gets excited about it. Assembly is also a fun Lego-like experience. makerworld.com/models/769288 and makerworld.com/models/775068

Completed my first read for the winter downtime: Tiago Fortes's Building a Second Brain — good input for my note-taking. What interests me most is the PARA method for better clustering and discoverability; this is where my pile of bookmarks and digital and handwritten notes fall short.
