I’m going to play it right now. Top tip!

Absolutely. I clicked and then realized what I was doing.

@russincheshire.bsky.social I see you’ve recently branched out into crime fiction. Can I suggest this thread is the basis for your first film script (and, as the agent who suggested it, I claim my 10%).

It’s too easy to be cynical about making the effort to respond to things like planning applications, but it might have more leverage than people think.

Fantastic photos @delboydonegal.bsky.social - many thanks for sharing. That’s two new American thrushes in eight days; you’d almost say it was cathar-tick. Sorry, couldn’t help myself 😀.

Exciting report of a Blackpoll Warbler on Arranmore this afternoon. I love a new world warbler. All these immigrants enriching our lives, eh?

Small point of order but not insignificant in north-west England: he’s from Liverpool.

#donegalbirding There will be tantrums on the pier at Magheraroarty tomorrow morning if there are any further cancelled sailings.

And there’s more. After the Swainson’s Thrush at Gleann Cholm Cille (Glencolumbkille) there’s now a Grey-Cheeked Thrush at An Baile Thoir (East Town), Oileán Thoraí (Tory Island). I’m dutifully giving locations in Irish as both are located in the Gaeltacht. But no ferries today!

Some heroic sea-watches yesterday after the storm, turning up a nice bag of petrels, skuas and shearwaters. @delboydonegal.bsky.social took on Malin Head and Jamie Bliss at Fanad Head.

We surely need wind energy but this is depressing. Seems that the modelling used by wind farm applications isn’t right and excess eagle mortality far exceeds what the applicants suggest. Needs a complete rethink.

A few more shots of the Swainson’s thrush at Malin More today that show the breast and belly pattern more clearly. A stunning bird that behaved totally against reputation by walking right up to us on occasion!

A lifer today for some of the county’s most enthusiastic and experienced birders - this county-first Swainson’s Thrush should have been heading from Canada to South America, not Málainn Mhóir (Malin More), Gleann Cholm Cille (Glencolumbkille). Photo @delboydonegal.bsky.social

Yes. Reintroducing a photogenic species is all well and good but the article makes clear that it needs to be located within a wider vision. Unfortunately Ireland’s politicians like headlines about reintroductions but don’t have such a vision.
