HIV and AIDS were not ignored by the people most affected. In fact, here and abroad, individuals and communities ravaged by HIV and AIDS, scientists, public health professionals, advocates, and individuals (many of whom were scientists and experts) came together to hold their govts accountable.

Their position, much like with COVID infections and Long COVID, seems to be if you don’t talk about it and you don’t measure it, it doesn’t really exist.

As human beings, we must fight back on this ignorance and nihilistic approach to human life.

Today, the Trump regime in its war on science and humanity is pretending HIV and AIDS do not exist, or that the people affected are not worth their time. They are refusing to acknowledge World AIDS Day. They’ve reached all the way back to the 1980s Regan playbook to deny a pandemic exists.
