#NIEHS / #NTP describe a prototype for a small-scale #RF exposure system to investigate toxicological effects.
Studies are needed, they advise, given widespread human exposure to RF radiation from cell phones.

To understand why EMF–health research never seems to make much progress, check out what happened to Reba Goodman when she made some major breakthroughs. A former professor at Columbia University, Goodman died last year.
It’s a long and troubling story.

Don McRee died on July 28 at the age of 90.
He joined #NIEHS in 1969 and became the in-house expert on microwave health impacts. For many years, he ran the US-USSR MW cooperative research program. He retired in 1995 and joined George Carlo at WTR.

Evidence reveals #RF exposures may be genotoxic and could pose a cancer risk. Exposure duration & real-world signals are most important factors influencing genotoxicity, warranting further research to address. We support precautionary measures.

The dismantling of scientific research continues apace.
Years ago, EPA ORD had one of the leading #RF research groups in the world.

No effect of 2.4 & 5.8 GHz #RF on flower visitation rates by honey bees. But there was a “significant reduction” in visits by bumble bees when the plants were exposed to the RF.
The exact mechanism “is not yet clear.”
The research was self-funded.

In a soon to be posted review, Jim Lin, UIC & ex-ICNIRP, deplores the “substantial incongruities and inconsistencies in the ICNIRP guidelines and IEEE/ICES standards," and the “less trustworthy appraisals [of] many of the recent WHO sponsored systematic reviews.”

A key finding:
“The differential effects observed between the 700 MHz and 3.6 GHz exposures highlight the importance of considering signal characteristics and tissue properties in understanding RF-EMF interactions.”

In an unsigned opinion, BfS, the German radiation protection office, has rejected WHO’s systematic review which found credible and reliable evidence that #RF radiation causes cancer in animals.
BfS is the chief sponsor of ICNIRP which has long dismissed the cancer link.
