This is the most corrupt, lawless administration in the history of the United States and there’s no close second.

Re-watched this recently & realized River Phoenix is more Hank William-coded in this than Tom Hiddleston was in I Saw the Light.

Also realized Peter Bogdanovich directed this!?! Certainly my 17-year-old self was oblivious to such things, but quadragenarian me was delighted to make the discovery!

Raise a glass to Bill Watterson, wherever he is and whatever he’s doing. Not only did he give us the genius of Calvin and Hobbes, he has kept it evergreen by steadfastly refusing to monetize it.

Breaking News: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said he personally instructed the CDC to abandon its position that vaccines do not cause autism. The move underscores his determination to challenge scientific orthodoxy — in this case, that vaccines save lives — and bend the health department to his will.
RFK Jr. Says He Instructed CDC to Change Vaccines and Autism Language on Website
In an interview, Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. cited gaps in vaccine safety research. His critics say he is ignoring a larger point: Vaccines save lives.

New: cops used Flock AI-enabled cameras to monitor No Kings protests around the country. Also monitored No Hands protests and protests against DOGE.

"Should serve as a warning of how it may be used in the future to suppress dissent."

Most people, even very smart people, truly do not understand the extent to which car dependency was manufactured in the United States, and how decisions made 100 years ago are why cities and towns look the way they do today.
I'm really tired of people acting like car dependency happened organically when even a cursory look at history will make it clear that automakers pushed infrastructure and even zoning to juice car sales.

Yeah, if you grow up in a food desert, or near a polluting company, or work for a company that doesn't let you take appropriate breaks, or get hit by someone else's car, shame on you for not taking care of your health.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

None of the films Rock Hudson made w/ director Douglas Sirk are streaming — not even as a VOD rental.

But 4 of them are on TCM tonight starting at 8pm ET.

I can’t think of a better way to celebrate his centenary.

The only thing that Marjorie Taylor Greene apologized for is taking part in "toxic politics." And all that means is that she's going to use a softer voice when trying to disenfranchise black people and strip us of our civil rights. www.cnn.com/2025/11/16/p...
‘Humbly, I’m sorry’: Marjorie Taylor Greene says she’s turning a new leaf after years of divisive comments | CNN Politics
Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said Sunday she will stop using “toxic” rhetoric, marking what would be a dramatic shift in a political brand hallmarked by derogatory comments.
