Any idea what the xG was for that shot?

Definitely helps that Brentford played like we usually do. Reactive, soft.c defensive, not posing much threat. But we played great ourselves, for sure. Was good to finally see Xavi let loose and interesting to me that he seemed to be right of center for much of the offensive action, rather than left

Probably not because you’re also more vulnerable to the counter when you commit numbers forward so the net shouldn’t be affected too much by game state.

Can’t think of a manager who instills less confidence in his team. All his quotes are about how we have no right to expectations, how we’re the team that finished 17th (not the trophy team, even though it was starters in EL, bench in PL), or that he’s pleased with us after a bad performance.

Love the user name!

What was our xG through 14 matches last year? I seem to remember we were creating a lot early (before the injuries), but not finishing.
December 3, 2025 at 5:59 PM
0.85 xG.

And Frank talked in his postgame comments about how we were brave and posed a threat today. Lol.

In the long run, it does measure the likelihood of success. In fact, early in the season, when we were over performing it, people said the same thing because we were top 4, but lack of chance creation caught up to us and we dropped to 12th.

Did you notice the only through ball into the box all match was when Xavi found a Udogie run late in the match that created a dangerous chance?

Other than that, it was all low % crosses into the box and get lucky on xG over performance (now 12 of 21 under 1)

And ‘tactically flexible’ as a response to the perception that Ange only played one way (which wasn’t true, as we saw in the EL final, he was just building an aggressive mentality).

The irony is that formations may change, but the offensive tactics don’t: get it wide and spam crosses. Nothing else

Don’t forget, keeping the ball so the other team doesn’t have it = not being pragmatic.
November 29, 2025 at 8:53 PM
Can they bring back Ange for the second half?
November 29, 2025 at 8:52 PM
He should be building off the good vibes of the trophy, not publicly trashing us and suggesting the backups who finished 17th are our real identity. If he doesn’t believe in us, we should find a manager who does.

I was really horrified that he went there to cover his butt.

I can’t find the quote on this app (and don’t want to screenshot the other), but Frank’s comments afterwards about we’re the team that finished 17th last year added insult to injury. His setup, selection, and approach suggests he respects our opponents too much and his own team too little.
November 24, 2025 at 3:28 AM
Well said.

And his excuse making afterwards - trashing the team by talking about how we finished 17th last year so we shouldn’t expect us to do well yet - makes all so much worse.

He shows too much respect to our good opponents, and too little respect to our own team and players.

Plus, when we actually had our starting defenders, our defense was statistically very good under Ange. He understood the other team can’t score if they don’t have the ball. Failed miserably when he had the wrong guys in defense, but the theory was sound.

Good news is he did make this about Epstein. Bad news is his NYT quote is the epitome of bad Dem messaging. Could’ve said, “these emails prove Trump knew about the Epstein pedophile ring, and now he’s covering up his role,” but instead he just said the email raises questions.”
November 12, 2025 at 3:34 PM
That quote from Rep Garcia is sooooo bad. Washington politician/lawyer speak. Just hit Trump with a 2x4 and say “these emails prove that Trump knew about the Epstein pedophile ring and now is trying to cover up his role in the pedophile ring.”

No more of these “raises questions” weasel words.

We beat them 4 times in a row. No excuse for bringing an underdog mentality satisfied with a draw instead of beating them again.
November 11, 2025 at 4:41 PM
Nuno was pretty bad - IIRC, I believe went multiple games without a shot on goal before he was fired.

But play that ball without Kane and Son? Terrible.
November 1, 2025 at 7:46 PM
Today was exhibit A for why the lack of xG were a long term problem even though our results had been ok.
November 1, 2025 at 7:44 PM
Ah. Not sure why I didn’t realize that. Thanks.
November 1, 2025 at 7:36 PM
It was a cup game so 82-0 is still alive
November 1, 2025 at 4:59 PM
But without Kane and prime Son to bail us out.

How did the ref not see that Ramsdale saved Xavi’s shot? Should have been a corner, instead he blows the halftime whistle. Maybe he badly had to use the bathroom.
