Here’s a #mono treatment of the same #Anhinga drying its wings — different angle. I need to research gender and mating plummage to learn more about this bird, but like the way the photo turned out, so I am prematurely posting.

Good day, BirdSkyers!

Here’s a #bird with #stripes for today’s #BirdOfTheDay

This Anhinga posed patiently in a dad tree on the edge of the marsh. Unfortunately, my focus never succeeded in finding the bird, but such is my life as a “photographer” (air quotes).

Still, it’s a cool bird to share.

For today’s #reflections prompt, I dug this out of the archive — a shy #Sanderling (I think, peeps always challenge my certainty) appears to be exiting the stage and stepping into shadow

I love the warmth of the light and wavy reflection

Hello #BirdOfTheDay folks!

I am back after a little getaway with my wife, so here’s a #corvid for today’s prompt.

A Blue Jay lurks in the shadows of a curtain of Spanish Moss. The scene has an almost abstract feel.

You are welcome 💙

Here’s a bonus shot from #Petra — a fuller capture of the magnificent facade of Al-Khazneh. Enjoy!

I almost forgot! Happy #Caturday to those who celebrate

This sleeping beauty is one of the six-toed menagerie at the Ernest #Hemingway house and museum in #KeyWest. It happens to be snoozing in Hemingway’s study, where he did a lot of his writing

For some reason, he had a thing for 6-toed 🐈s 🤷‍♂️

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about #Jordan.

The morning sun warms the magnificent facade of Al-Khazneh (The Treasury), the signature edifice of the signature historical attraction in Jordan, #Petra

I can still feel the #warmth radiate from its sandstone face

For #scapeday — here’s a #seascape #sundown for your viewing pleasure. This might be more appropriately termed a #skyscape.

The #moon adds to the beauty and a “stealth cloud” in the low center contributes a bit of mysterious vibe

Was a gorgeous evening for a sailing cruise 😊

Hi All,

Here’s a quick #urbangaze photo from this week’s getaway in #KeyWest. This is one of many gorgeous examples of old school #neon.

A little #sunset coloring in the background completes the scene.

Quick birthday follow-up — here are some nice pics of #sunset from #KeyWest from last night.

It was a lovely day overall, capped off with margaritas and live music at #SloppyJoes — Hemingway’s favorite bar.

For #BlueskyMonday and my 65th birthday, here are a couple of shots from a splendid beach day at Fort Zachary Taylor Park in #KeyWest

Photo credit on the pic of the b-day boy is to my dear wife.

We’re off to catch sunset and to bar hop. We’ll see if we can stay out until midnight 🤨🤨🤨

A little something from a walk this morning

This simple #sunrise shot has a #small light anomaly below the sea oats in the foreground. I suspect it’s from something like sunscreen on my phone lenses, or I might have captured a transitory portal to another universe

Who knows???

I know you might have seen this one recently, but what the heck — I like it 😊

Here’s a #silhouette of a #GreatBlueHeron from a couple of months back

I love the details that pop in this treatment — the tongue, the fine feathers coming off the back of the head and chest

Here’s a #groundedgull as a late offering for today’s #BirdOfTheDay

This Ring-billed Gull is posing smartly facing the late afternoon sun. It’s accompanied by its shadow.

I’ve softened the background to increase focus on the gull.

Happy Friday, Blueskyers!

Here’s a simple #beachscape from a couple of days ago. It’s a bit of a cliche with beach umbrella ⛱️, but I thought it was fun 😊

Gotta admit that having beach days in the upper 70s in late November is pretty nice

A classic wader — a #Willet! Willets are like larger sandpipers. They work the shallows as the surf goes in and out.

They aren’t so colorful, but they are elegant in their way. They are also pretty tolerant as they share the surf with beach walkers.

Sometimes #waders wade through a sea of #marsh grasses. There’s water there somewhere 😊

This #GreatEgret posed elegantly for this photo. It was too far away for great focus, but I like the scene with the beautiful model

Here’s another #wader — a #SnowyEgret. Some #egrets and #herons like hunting in the still waters, like marshes and lagoons. Others also like hunting in the surf —like this Snowy

You can just barely make out a blurry reflection in the foreground

For today’s #BirdOfTheDay #waders prompt

This is my best wading shot of a #LittleBlueHeron from a couple of weeks ago. The water is only a couple of inches deep, but the #heron is definitely wading

From the archive for today’s #wingsonwednesday (a rogue prompt, I believe)

The horizon beyond this wing is the meeting of desert and sky as my wife and I returned to Jordan for our second year (of four) of her teaching at a boarding school founded by His Majesty King Abdullah II

A great adventure!

While it’s not swimmable, the beach in St Simons is still a good place to hang out and take in some sun.

This shot from the archives does double-duty for #BlueSkyMonday and the #gullsinflight prompt for #BirdOfTheDay

This Ring-billed #Gull gave me a wonderful pose as it glided gracefully against the deep blue backdrop

I apologize for repeating myself here, but this one is a fave

OK. Yes, this is another shot from our 3rd floor apartment landing. I just couldn’t help myself — the crescent moon and lush colors of the pre-sunrise were too much to look away.

We’ll file it under Deep #BlueSkyMonday

Hope your Monday and week ahead are good ones 😊😊😊
