I completely disagree. Who came up with this idea to demonize science and why? There is practically no such activity, yet. Breeding animals is essentially the same. Saving ecosystems can and will be done without GMO, anyway.

Very good! I have beautiful pictures of Xanthomonas infections on Cassava which can devastate a field. 😎🦠🧫

very cool work and a milestone in synthetic biology. how impressive are the new phage genomes?

with generative bioML, i'm always looking at how similar the generated sequences are to known sequences. let's take a look

Many of the most complex and useful functions in biology emerge at the scale of whole genomes.

Today, we share our preprint “Generative design of novel bacteriophages with genome language models”, where we validate the first, functional AI-generated genomes 🧵

Please make a Baldurs Gate 3 movie with the original voice/motion actors. 🤩 The fans would love it and you are perfect for this. Lots of splatter possible! And, there are kids in it, too (ok…with horns)…!

Bernard Dixon, „Power unseen: how microbes rule the world“ Quite old (1980s) by now, but easy to read. My favorite is, of course, „Microbe hunters“, by Paul de Kruif, but that one is focused on the early Microbiologists and even older (1926).

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.
