Hmm... also featuring the body of Sir Alec Guiness and a living Sir Patrick Stewart?

I would be proud and happy to cross over the border to show Canadians and Danes how to shoot down American planes like it was done in the western Ukraine.

Heinlein had offered the idea of the "crazy years"... That also featured an American theocracy and throngs enthralled by prosperity gospel too...

You just misunderstand what "problems" they are trying to "solve"; Economic strangulation, having an economic choke-point, is what they are trying to "solve", for the good of themselves alone. Reducing "touch points"; billies don't like having human contact with all the poors everywhere they go.

At one time I really liked the idea of federated forges and self publishing, but living in the US blind and destitute I often had lived without network access, sometimes without electricity, so I don't see it as viable or practical for me. #codeberg I could publish to, though.

This is not a bad list. I think supporting coop formation and other forms of worker owned and co-managed enterprises would be a good addition to it.

I have never heard of #tangled. I am not interested in #github unless I actually wanted swarms of email from AI driven recruiters, and they break accessibility, too. There are other problems, too. The people at #codeberg are very nice.

They are really very nice people. Being blind I would find the web-heavy GitHub-like experience a bit hard to do. But for people used to GitHub it seems like it would be a very natural and cleaner migration.
December 6, 2025 at 6:12 PM
With the gitea / forge-jo stuff and it's migration support this is often a rather easy move, too.

Indeed, #codeberg are very nice people and they operate under German law. Being blind I am not really into the whole #github web heavy work flows, though. I wish they would adopt some ideas from #sourcehut, including rinning an #irc server. Having a per-org irc channel would be nice.

And very direct and honest about it. I also did not yet fully appreciate what he was saying at the time.

I like that idea. Oil should have been left behind in the 20th century. I actually once met the general director of PDVSA, back in 2005, and what he said at the time is that either people will stop "burning oil" in 25 years or humanity will become extinct by the end of this century.

In fact, one of the other great cities of the ancient world, like Alexandria in Egypt, was also named after Alexander. Today it's name is mispronounced, and its significance now lost. Today we call it Kandahar.
