On June 17th, 2025 @nikhef.bsky.social celebrated its 50th anniversary 🥳

Since 2016 Nikhef has been working on the @cern.bsky.social ATLAS Upgrade Inner Tracker (ITk) Strip End-cap. Two super rigid CF structures are assembled with a precise gluing jig in the Nikhef clean-room.

Since 2015, Nikhef worked on the Upgrade of the @cern.bsky.social ALICE Outer Barrel (OB) Inner Tracking System (ITS). The ITS Module has 14 pixel chips which measures each 30x15mm with a thickness of only about 0.25mm

Yesterday on June 17th, 2025 @nikhef.bsky.social celebrates its 50th anniversary 🥳

Since 2015 NIKHEF has been building the @km3net.bsky.social detector. Each Digital Optical Module (DOM) contains 31 PhotoMultiplier Tubes (PMTs). Deployment in the Mediterranean Sea is at a depth of 2.5 - 3.5 km.

As a spin-off of the successful VELO CO2 cooling Nikhef built the CO2 cooling system of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer for at the ISS.
