I was dreading last night with a puppy in the house. Turned put the boy wasn't arsed at all.

I'm still not a huge fan, mainly because it's never just one night - it's the weeks before and after too.
Noodle the shiborgi puppy, fast asleep on a fluffy grey blanket while fireworks pop off outside. He is the least bothered creature you have ever encountered.

A photograph of a round, friendly bee. It is probably not worth noting that the bee is a plushy and has a hole in the middle, through which a small canine snout can be seen. There are also four white-socked puppy paws in shot. Actually, I'm beginning to suspect that this is a ruse.

Noodle has now reached 4 months in age and 4 kilos in weight. He has also become a bit of a local celebrity. We can't take him out without him being mobbed by his new fans. Thankfully, he is taking it well and hasn't let it go to his head.

I was looking back through our photos last night, and goddamn. Conversely, I am getting smaller - running around after a puppy is a great weight loss plan.
Noodle at about 5 weeks old, when we first met him. I am supporting him with my right hand while he perches his front paws on my left elbow, but I could have easily held his entire body in my one palm. This was in mid August. Noodle in early October, asleep on his back, wedged between his Halloween Corgi blanket and the couch. He is very long now - his corgi heritage is definitely showing.

Noodle is growing with alarming rapidity. We have already had to replace his first puppy harness due to it no longer fitting comfortably. He'll be a big hench unit by Christmas.
Noodle the shiborgi in his first baby blue puppy harness, chilling out under one of the outside benches at our local. His a little collapsible water bowl is in shot, as he is not old enough to get served at the bar. Noodle while out on a walk. He is again in his first puppy harness, but it barely passes the two finger test now. He is surrounded by dead leaves and sprouting pavement grass down a back street, and is regarding me with the cold eyes of someone who wants to get the walk moving again rather than pose for photos. Noodle yesterday, in his new harness, which is identical to the previous one in all respects except size. He is standing with his forepaws on a rock, and he is staring over a small stream at a magpie and a squirrel who are about their own business. There are trees and shrubs and it's all rather lovely.

Noodle was being an absolute gremlin today - puppy energy meets teething - so we had to have a calm word about his behaviour. He followed this by climbing into my lap and falling asleep.

Ah, he's a good boy, I suppose...

Last weekend, Noodle got to visit the pub for the first time, and charmed all the locals. He didn't get a round in, though. Rude.
It's me - a balding, bearded, bespectacled man - holding Noodle the shiborgi outside one of our favourite local pubs on a sunny day. We both have weirdly similar expressions of mild surprise and confusion. Noodle is wearing his fetching blue puppy harness and matching lead, while I have my bright orange tee with a cartoon version of the Dog ending from the OG Silent Hill 2. It features Mira the shiba inu, which felt appropriate for the event.

Noodle is now just about big enough to clamber up onto the couch. He celebrated this by stealing the remote and running around the table with it. It is testament to his decency that he paused what we were watching first.

PUPDATE: We have achieved Full Flop (Right Side Ear Variant)

Apparently, this is a symptom of teething, as the pup's body redirects essential minerals towards tooth production. Lots of crying, chewing and general Being A Nightmare Child, but we're going to help him get through this.
Noodle the shiborgi is looking straight at you (apologies to Mastodon users) and his right ear has fully flopped over. His left is still pretty erect, but even that has been flopping at the tip now and then. Poor guy is going through the wringer lately, but frozen carrot seems to be helping.

After three weeks with us, Noodle has:

• More than doubled in size (from just under one kilo to just over two)
• Developed a killer "one floppy ear" look
• Begun working on his classic shiba Doge pose

Current favourite thing that Noodle does: When he wakes up from a nap, says "uff", changes position slightly, then falls immediately back to sleep.

I don't know if Nina Ottosson needs a promotional model for the sliding block puzzle feeders, but our boy Noodle pulled the most MB Games face I've ever seen on a dog.

IMPORTANT: It is essential to remember to say "ooh, big stretch" to your puppy, even when that is a physical impossibility.

Noodle is officially home now. He is tiny and perfect and has the silliest little tail.
Noodle the corgi/shiba inu cross, standing at the entrance to his den, amazed by how small he is. Noodle stood on a fluffy grey blanket with padded sides, wearing a blue tartan bandana-style collar. He is hanging out with my spouse, who is in a skirt with cherries on it and a red Biffy The Vampire Slayer t-shirt. Noodle napping. He keeps falling asleep for a few minutes then waking right back up again. The world is too exciting. Noodle having woken up after his very brief nap, all bright-eyed and raring to go.

Met this tiny legend today, and asked if he'd like to move in with us. He seemed keen.
