Unfortunately. It still baffles me how the games had 1000x better puppet effects and 1000x better scripts. They were at least on par with a respectable mid-90s sci-fi channel mini-series. But the movie was... I have no idea what that was.

Man, I was always disappointed they killed Ashtar half way through the story and replaced him with the bad guy from the previous game (who wasn't nearly as cool). But Ninja Gaiden II is still the best of the bunch.

It's literally the only book about Christianity I've ever read that spoke directly to my personal experience and upbringing. I felt seen by it.

The Professional is *fuuuucked up*. The final scene is actually incredible powerful, and *could* have been a damning commentary on Duke's inhumanity if it had ended on the second-to-last shot, and not the last one (though I guess you can read it as ambiguous).

I don't like the remake at all. REC is a superior zombie film, and I think you could make the case for The Birds being an underrated pre-zombie film.

People forget Sly 1 had that whole alternate anime intro as an unlock, complete with Japanese VO.

I mean, they didn't even change the name (a lot of Americans don't know Dawn of the Dead was called "Zombi" in Europe). It's basically a full-on unauthorized adaptation with zero attempts to disguise the fact.

Always liked it. Rewatched it last year and it's now my favorite Bigelow film by a mile. Absurdly prescient and would be perfect if not for the intervention at the end, though it's hard to be angry at a movie where Angela Bassett beats the shit out of racist cops.
