DNS overrides carrying over is nice because on devices with access to my ingress proxies internal IP I can bypass cloudflare entirely.

I host a WireGuard server on an OPNSense instance as my VPN of choice at home. WireGuard and OPNSense pair really well together for this. I’m able to set the unbound DNS server hosted on OPNSense as the DNS server for VPN clients. This makes local name resolution, search & DNS overrides carry over.
