“I’m Stefan,” the other replied, equally quiet.

It only took a few minutes before they were talking like they’d known each other forever. Kai’s shyness melted away in Stefan’s laughter, and Stefan, who usually didn’t talk much, found himself giggling at Kai’s silly little jokes.

Stefan’s eyes found the boy playing by himself. He was quieter and there was something about the way he hummed to himself while playing that drew Stefan in.

When Kai looked up and saw him, his face lit up immediately. “I’m Kai,” he said softly, almost like a secret.

Sora shook her head, firm. “No, princesses.”

So Stefan went along—for a while. He made the dolls talk and bow like she wanted, but eventually, Sora started giving all the dolls orders and changing the story every few seconds.
