Domestic steel prices are also expected to rise due to reduced competition and increased demand for US-produced inputs, further straining manufacturers and increasing wholesale prices. Coffin and casket manufacturers choose to locate themselves near suppliers, making the Great Lakes a popular choice to set up establishments. These manufacturers can quickly and conveniently acquire raw materials while saving on transportation costs. Competition in coffin and casket manufacturing is high and primarily external. Competition primarily emerges from alternative methods of death care that don't require a traditional casket. Although cremations still use coffins, these are often more affordable, harming revenue.
