Hi Bluesky!

I'm a pixel artist based in Tokyo 🇯🇵 making a (huge) 2D Pixel Art RPG in Godot 4 engine.

Here is some of my game art made in the last few months. ✨

Yeah, very valid and helpful, thank you!

Aaah damn. It looks like a door huh 😅

Got em all right, but yeah the card game is my main hurdle atm

It seems opinions were quite split on that. I think around half of people guessed it right, but multiple also told me it looks like doors/frames, or just unclear

I made this alternate design since, which im assuming is a bit more obvious 🤔

Theres no wrong, its the devs responsibility to communicate properly!

Thx for the feedback

The angle i also thought of but its not feasible at this low resolution. Only readable option is straight cards.

Thx for the feedback!

Very good points. I actually thought the same and tried a different version

You broke the universe. Well done

there is definitely easier things than moving to Japan, there is no doubt about that! 😆

hope you will love it here though!

Yeah its a tricky one, unfortunately i dont have a great solution for these very reasons 😕

I dont recommend asking people who arent willing to vouch for you or you dont know more closely for this purpose, unless you want to potentially burden them

When there is a Japanese speaking contact you can rest assured they will always opt for this option first

Gotcha. Thank you! 🙏

Peoples feedback is invaluable really appreciate it!

Great, theyre correct.

The last one is play Cards, the most tricky one

thanks for the feedback!

each card has a different palette matching the art represented, so there has to be some kind of generic card color

currently i went with brown since thats the main palette for the backside of the cards, which you see when playing the game

2 out of 4 are spot on, thx for the feedback :D
moonfell-rpg.com
appreciate the feedback!

its tricky with low resolution, and even when things are more clear up close sometimes you zoom out and it all becomes muddled lol

hmm, to me the third card reads like a dropshadow and the different alignment of the three cards in total throws me off a bit?

im hoping that since the player will know about the card game and its prompt its enough to make it clear 🤔

do think it looks better with the backside one

Like this? im kinda digging it, great idea
moonfell-rpg.com
the last one is play Cards, seems to be the least understandable one

thx for the feedback!
moonfell-rpg.com
interesting, you got the last one right (its more like triple triad than queensblood tho)

but i didnt expect the third one (its shop). didnt consider this interpretation, so thank you for pointing it out cause it makes perfect sense
moonfell-rpg.com
thank you!

the last on is play Card Game, which will be explained prior but I still wanted to know if its kinda intuitive

seems to be the hardest one to grasp
moonfell-rpg.com
great, those are all correct.

could you clarify what you mean with the card on top being flipped? you mean one card is showing its back?
moonfell-rpg.com
I also tried one that resembles the card design more like you mentioned, but I felt like the icon itself was less readable
moonfell-rpg.com
great ideas thank you, and i did try all of those but this is the best design i could come up with.

tilted card like the traditional playing cards icon looked weird and less readable at this resolution, while three cards required the bubble to be quite a bit bigger making the other designs bulky
