Moonlit. Wildlife, Fantasy, Pyrography Artist, and Leather Crafter who probably paints too many Coyotes and Wolves. BFA from SAIC.
My neighbor text me like “hey! The Aurora is outside!” And sent me a photo, so I went out in the back yard in 26°F and froze my butt off… I could See them without the camera!!

I’m super far south so… this made my night!

I spent all night last night rendering some rocks on a ridiculously large canvas in Procreate because apparently that is what my artbrain has deemed it wants to do.

Art Burnout is weird.

Today summed up in one image…

I’ve done nothing but yell about my dogs for most of this year… so photo tax is required.

As you can see, both dogs are now pretty close to being a unit. Ruby likes to mother Magnus when he’ll let her, and she gives him big boy confidence.

Time to head off to our first consult with the canine behaviorist/dog trainer.

Magnus is going too so the question of the day is will he decide to be a good boy and show the trainer he’s great or will he decide to be a stubborn PitA.

Opinionated chaos gremlin in question

I feel like all I’ve done for the last little while is yell about my dogs- so here they are.

Ruby learning what the porch sofa is for and his Lordship, Magnus, who has strong opinions.

Magnus has accepted that Ruby is good to play with and okay to be around as long as she respects his space.

As you can imagine, integrating a new dog into the family and training said dog is taking up most of my free time, but here’s a work in progress of a little bit of fun fan art.

When will I finish it? Who knows. It’s something to noodle on.

The newest addition, meet Ruby.

This lady is the reason for the 10 hour drive. Breeder release dog who was in a rescue- she hasn’t had the best start in life as you can imagine.

Her nature reminds me of Rory, our very much loved previous Irish Setter.

Starfall

A cheeky celestial coyote. Probably up to a little chaos.

Was playing with gradient maps in Procreate when I made this back in 2022.

MIGRAINE

Older but favorite piece of mine. Migraines are no fun.

This panel for a clutch is on my workbench today. Time to bevel!

I like to work with a bit extra leather and cut after all the tooling is complete. That way, I have space for warm up cuts, a space to test moisture content when stamping, and can save the extra bits to test dye colors.

I made this little bag (strap in progress) for practice with a whole bunch of techniques i wanted to try.

Inside is fully lined and includes pockets and the flowers in the tooling was dyed using an airbrush for the color gradient.

Just a quick pop in to say that Old Man Shadow is still here- which was the best birthday present I could have asked for.

So here’s both Shadow and Magnus doing what they love- chilling in the screened porch.

BITE BACK.

Current events vent.
May 24, 2025 at 1:07 AM
“Excuse me! I demand some belly rubs!”

Old man Shadow is still here and still acting like himself. This was this morning out on the porch.

Cancer sucks, but he’s enjoying the time he has.

I finished up this clutch wallet- a challenge piece for me and my limited leather knowledge.

Practice makes perfect! Next time I’ll pick a better interior leather, but I used what I had.

Remember my little leather tooled coyote panel?

I finally finished the rest of the wristlet part of it. I couldn’t resist the aqua leather in my stash.

Next one I’ll line and put a pocket or two in it since I know the pattern is sound!
April 10, 2025 at 11:27 PM
I’ve been working on tooling this during what little free time I’ve had the last couple of weeks. The tooling portion has finally been completed- now it’s the interior build, dye/paint/antique, and sewing to go (haha).

More florals, but I have plans for non-floral designs too.

I finished a project over the weekend! A little wristlet.

I picked up that pink suede with gold splotches years ago and decided it was time to use it. The tooled portion is on Hermann Oak Vege tan.

This is also 100% hand sewn.

The wrist strap is in progress.

It’s been a slow return to art of any form, but slowly, I’m finding my feet again. More leather tooling shenanigans- but this time with an eastern coyote.

This panel hasn’t been oiled, painted, dyed, or antiqued just yet.

Hello bsky! You rock! Thank you for the love.

I’m in a leather tooling phase, so I bought some better quality tooling leather and made myself a test keychain to see how it handled in comparison to what I was using.

(Pattern for the tooled portion is from KGWesternDesigns)

Despite the fact that his piece is a few years old, I still love it.

Referenced from photos I took while at Indiana Coyote Rescue Center- they are near and dear to my heart.
March 19, 2025 at 2:16 AM
My D&D campaign notebook ended up full at the last session so I decided to make myself a tooled leather cover for the new one as practice.

Original pattern is from Don Gonzalez (if you like leather tooling you should absolutely look up his work).

I fought this piece of leather… let me tell you.
March 14, 2025 at 8:19 PM
Sometimes you step back and decide to re-evaluate.

I chose to redo the previous tooling on significantly thicker leather. Next up is deciding dye, paint (if any), oil and antiquing plans.

The front panel is next.
