I smell like this so you don't have to.
I'm reading the show as an allegory rather than a character study. Carol's selfishness would need more nuance as an individual, but doesn't as The Individual

Put another way, I still think I'm watching a camp 1950s "the virus from outer space is Communism" sci-fi story turned on its head

Changing zoning doesn't force landlords to sell or redevelop; yes it's necessary long-term but we have a housing crisis *now*, change on generational time scales doesn't fix it
November 13, 2025 at 7:13 PM
"build housing," often as not, means "tear down cheap, old housing and build new, expensive housing"

Increasing the housing supply isn't just a matter of handing out subsidies to property developers; it will need regulation, and the spine to stand up to landlords who inevitably fight it

We also kinda need to acknowledge that like any society, we've got people who are old or infirm who can't get money by working for it. And that those people deserve a warm, dry, private, and safe place to live just like the rest of us.

The market can't house people who can't access the market.

Which kinda illustrates my point-- most large US cities had an alt weekly with a music section, and they had their own critics too, they weren't just running licensed columns

By whom?

How much of the music press is still left, compared to 1999?
November 13, 2025 at 2:40 AM
Albums particularly and pop music broadly don't have the cultural significance or economic benefit to artists that they had in the '90s

The world changed! Quite a lot, in this particular area!

It's also great when you're one of the reply guys who isn't doing this, and maybe even made a decent case, but it gets buried because, well, people come to The Website to grind axes, not to follow instructions

You referenced artists from the 60s and 70s releasing new material in the 90s, not just from the 60s

Like half of @themountaingoats.bsky.social's posts are imploring me to listen to an amazing new record from artists who've been around for 25 years
November 13, 2025 at 1:49 AM
Beyoncé, Renaissance and Cowboy Carter

Tyler The Creator, Chromacopia and Don't Tap the Glass

Lady Gaga, Mayhem

Taylor frickin' Swift started releasing records 20 years ago

Pearl Jam has released 2 albums in the 2020s. So has Coldplay. Queens of the Stone Age released a record in 2023

Albums?

What are "albums?"

The question with Trump and Epstein isn't how many people get it, but whether the media are ready to say what everyone knows yet

Got a bonus mental image here that I would have missed if you'd used "segue", thanks for that

Not sure what "call it" means in a race this close?

Local media are running stories saying Wilson is "likely" the next mayor. There are still some uncounted ballots and there could well be a mandatory machine recount before it's certified, but Wilson's lead appears unsurmountable at present
