We had a guy named trump. They say t-rump is the best way. Just say rump. And you can remember that because he’s a complete ass.

I’m so tired of people thinking rich people are necessarily smart people.

You should see what a good set of upright bass strings costs. 😬

Still a must for stringed instrument bows. It has all the perfect qualities!
I was not aware that it was used for anything else these days.

Ha! Agreed.
I do endorse Crimson Guitars. Very few felt tip pens.

It’s obviously real. And why are you acting like Keanu and Johnny are different people!?

That's fantastic!

Those are beauties.
Also, what’s on the bench to the right?

Yes.
But, find a good, local hardwood supplier and you’ll be much happier. Measurements for thickness are in fourths… 4/4 =1 inch, 6/4 =1.5 inch

I believe it was Nelson Mandela… “Your either winning or learning.”

I wish everybody was smart.

These are probably not the right answers. But the physics teacher in me says to make the wedge angle more acute. Or increase friction with chalk? If the Osage is too slippery.
Beautiful plane!

Yes! And, yeah new tools sure are expensive. You can get a lot of the woodworking tools used. And many of the more specific tools can be made. Although, stewmac is sooo tempting. Just give me one of everything!
August 12, 2025 at 1:55 AM
That’s exciting! What are you pouring?
July 30, 2025 at 1:45 PM
Oh, good eye! And not much distance between repeats.
Nothing can beat a sharp gouge and … inflamed carpal tunnel

I saturate my shop with pencils so there's always one at hand.

This is my first double bass. I’ve made archtop guitars. So, similar. The woods are pretty typical; spruce for the front, Bubinga for the fingerboard rather than ebony, maple for pretty much everything else.

Well done!
July 19, 2025 at 3:17 AM
Well, since you asked… almost finished with a double bass neck. Next up is finishing up the top plate and cutting the neck-to-body joint.
I also installed a new ceiling fan. But that doesn’t go in the portfolio. 😉
