Also they insisted I put my film camera through the X-ray machine even though it can damage the film :'-) every other airport I've been to have let me pass it to a security worker so they can carry it through for me

Nothing interesting, there's a bizarre lack of bathrooms though (took me half an hour to find any), so my main recommendation is to use em whenever you see them in case you don't find any others, lmao

Wonderful! I'll have to give that a read today. I just had the thought that maybe one of the reasons the story facilitates such strong env. storytelling is because the whole question is "damn, what happened here?", and env. storytelling can be one of the best methods of communicating exactly that.

It's far from the only element, but I found the environmental storytelling in Everybody's Gone to the Rapture to be very load-bearing. And since the world isn't generally interactable, it's purely visual, not forensic (accessed via interaction).

Amsterdam airport: Miffy!
UK airports: Paddington!
French airports: Remy le rat américain

Maybe the option to opt-out rather than opt-in would encourage more kids to perform while allowing the anxious messes to take a seat, haha

Only if it's optional/voluntary 🫠 Even reading texts aloud filled teen-me with such dread and misery, performing them properly would have killed me dead

Me and my friends did the same for a bunch of game jams. We had a sound for whenever you spoke to a whimsical animal NPC that was just me saying "doodle-oo-di-doo" sped up and pitched weirdly and it was cute and it worked.
