Exactly. Same pattern over and over. Because the public derives vibes-based numbers from the exposure things get in the media

The idea that societies and organisations exist without the infrastructure and support staff that keep things running is not exclusive to techbro libertarians. People forget that buildings have a foundation that stops them sinking into the mud

Apart from anything else, this really embodies the Playmobil approach to workforces that politicians often fall into — it’s all very well and good to laud “frontline” NHS workers but without backroom staff the entire service would actually collapse.
Hey everyone, here's the news, if you aren't a high earner, entrepreneur or a "skilled frontline worker" (whatever the fuck that means) the "Labour" Party says you aren't contributing, you're a taker!

It's certainly a possibility, but the Home Office has always been a radicalisation engine. I remember Jack Straw becoming Home Secretary and almost immediately turning into a hard right strongman parody. Absolutely toxic internal culture. Looks more like permission than inspiration IYSWIM

The frustration (and confusion) as a lay person with a lot of archaeological research is that there are so few definitive answers. I know that's how science works, but curiosity piqued wants to be satisfied.

Anyway, thanks for answering my questions and enjoy your Sunday. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, that answered my question, but unfortunately the answer was mostly, we're not sure... Really interesting food for thought. And the conflict between legal reporting requirements and actual research goals is one I hadn't thought of before. Very interesting.

Thanks so much. Fascinating subject.

Thanks, this was very interesting. Reading the FAQ on your website, the one question I didn't see answered (I may have missed it) was where the material used to make them came from. Local, or evidence of trade networks?

The public is reliably wrong about everything. Same thing happens when asked about immigration, Islam, etc

We have those in the woods near where we live, and they will fuck you up. Once every couple of years someone will get seriously injured by them. Long sharp teeth and a vicious streak, especially around their frankly adorable piglets.

Will also badly damage a car if you hit them.

First heard of after Rainbow was cancelled. Coincidence?
