Jobbing motoring journalist/copywriter since 2010. Prison governor before that. Now mainly classic cars, motorbikes, dogs, and life in the Cairngorms with the odd throwback to the glory days: "I might not have been up there, but I was there."

I've written over 2.5m words for a client on classic cars since 2011. Dial in newspaper/mag stuff for others, and I must've written 3m on cars.

Plus 3 novels, 1 book, T/S mag, a ghostwritten column, and content creation for McLaren - and I still feel like a slacker.

Imposter syndrome is a thing.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

And finished and I thoroughly enjoyed it, thank you!

Brought back memories of scratching around for freelance work reviewing new cars, something I wasn't too upset to lose due to COVID.

I saw a brand-new one on a petrol station forecourt on the A303.

I looked at the driver, and asked: "Is that...?"

He nodded, and said "Yes"

We shared a moment.

And a sensational sunset.

Today has been a very good day.

That's very, very lovely 👍

Oh that's really useful, thank you 👍

Just been playing on the configurator; love the green 😁

And, just when I thought today couldn't get any better, Maeving released this.

Dear lord, it is a lovely looking thing isn't it?

Maeving RM2 electric motorcycle. The hottest thing on two wheels since I rode the R100GS in a Barat-style mankini.

That would be brilliant for ragging around the lanes and tracks around here.

Is the rider triangle similar to the original? At 6' 3" I'd need to check it fitted me first...

Might even venture south of the border to try one.

Oh my, be still my beating heart.

I love the look of the original but this looks even better!

Took Bear for breakfast in Aviemore. He broke a few hearts in Tiso while I enjoyed a very good bacon sandwich.

Then received such good customer service in Ellis Brigham that I bought a jacket, stopped for a woodland walk on the way home, and built the new hen house.

An excellent day so far.

"Now I can't put the bins out" - ever again.

Best to sell up and move. He doesn't look like the sort of fella who'd be open to negotiation.

We don't yet know why JLR didn't have insurance in place, but you can be sure Wimbledon didn't enjoy paying for pandemic cover either, yet it ponied up £1.5m a year for almost two decades because that was the responsible thing to do.

Another cracking @motoringpodcast.com.

Unsurprised to hear HMG hasn't signed off on being guarantors yet.

Equally unsurprised Tata's philanthropy doesn't extend to guaranteeing its own damn loan.

Welcome to the latest installment of Too Big to Fail where the tax payer (again) assumes the risk.

What a great photo!

I thoroughly enjoyed it all of course but while I am very grateful to have been able to travel so widely and lavishly, I don't miss it. Do you?

Halfway through and thoroughly enjoying it!

The French press trip with Yamaha reminded me of many happy days living a lifestyle I couldn't have afforded...

I've just bought this. You should too - and it's only £2.39 in the UK. 👍

By now you might be asking yourself "Who is this guy? And why is he like that?" Well, it'll cost you $2.99 to find out. #motosky #motorcycle #booksky #autobiography

Thanks 👍

This really is the way. No buggering about trying to start the thing either, or worrying it's going to kick back into your face.

And being old, anything that makes life easier is especially welcome 😁

Got my log cutting dialled in; after 40 years of questionable safety using petrol chainsaws, this 240V set-up is safe, fast, reliable, and quiet - and all for well under £100.
A 240v chainsaw (£40) and a metal chainsaw stand (£60) means I can chop a month's worth of logs in an hour - and because they fall straight into the wheelbarrow, you don't have to bend down to pick them up.

Thank you, we're biased but we think so!
