Far From The Maddening Crowds

wow. Cambodia changed the game with visa extensions. Before, each one took a whole page. Now it’s a small sticker with a QR code. Very cool. It means they save that visa page for many visa extension stickers. And the passport lasts longer since cannot just get more pages inserted like before. I […]

#today I get my passport back with a shiny new retirement extension. It took awhile longer so naturally I was freaked out. My daughter told me to relax. All was ok. She’s a gem you know. I’ll see her for coffee tomorrow. Today I sit at Ur Coffee and revel in […]

Ur Cafe. A place to do nothing and excel at it.

Time for beer. Or beers. Down at almost pub street. Where the beer is $0.75. Thanks #siemreap #cambodia.
Viva restaurant. Let’s do cheap draft beer. Ok?

#today is a nice walk and coffee at Family Cafe. Here they have a social mission and feed port Khmer children weekly a few times from the coffee proceeds. It’s also a quiet and peaceful spot a mile or so from the house.

Place to sit. Watch outside the gate […]

Good morning. Colors popping even in the shade. Enjoy them while you can. #photography #today #chicago #fall
A vibrant garden bed filled with clusters of colorful impatiens flowers in shades of bright red, orange, pink, and purple, surrounded by green foliage. In the background, there are some pale green hydrangea blooms and silvery dusty miller leaves on the lower left side. The setting appears to be against a brick wall.

I’ll take this beautiful day. Rainy season made a brief appearance last night with thunder and some rain. Then #today check those skies. And I’ll walk and barely overthink whatever needs it. It’s becoming this wonderful interlude between the rain and dry season. Love it.
A view of bright blue sky with wispy clouds, partially obscured by green leaves in the foreground. The scene is set near a street, with buildings and streetlights visible in the background. All in Siem Reap of course.

Beautiful day in Siem Reap. What rainy season. It’s beer season.
Beautiful day downtown. Sitting with the required beers. Taco for my wife. Blue skies. What rainy season. Khmer people say not done yet. They know.

#today I meet my friend Russell for coffee. Time Coffee is a favored spot along the river. Been coming here years. Used to be daily when we lived closer. Now occasionally I get a PassApp and spend time talking and listening. Then walking.
Time for Time Coffee. Along the river in Siem Reap. Always nice.

My walk just other day. New places and old. Starts and ends. Start at river. End at old market. And stuff between. Well in reverse order I guess. Life hardly is in the right order. So this works. Hello #siemreap #cambodia
The old market. Where I stopped Down a street. Any street. This one I don’t remember walking. The wonderful sidewalks north of the city. Beautiful for walking. I have never seen a city in Cambodia with comparable dedicated walking. Siem Reap river. The rainy season has propelled the river. Soon it will end my wife says. No one really knows.

Watching YouTube in my rss reader is nice. News Explorer on iOS and Mac does it so well. I’ve had this app a long time. It just works. And now I use it for way more than before.

I always loved the sunsets in Hanoi. Something about seeing evenings come with West Lake shining. People laughing. Eating. Drinking. Sometimes becoming quiet as the show commenced.

And yeah. I do miss the city. Those little side streets in the old quarter […]

Hi @mikka I really like your bullhorn stuff. Is there an RSS feed with it? Been enjoying your recent posts on your travels a lot. The photos, as usual, gorgeous.

These are the days I lose track of all the things. The sky blue. The walking good. No real start. No end. It’s why I love this city so much. It’s just big enough to find places I have never been. Now though it’s downtown. A park bench and a mango shake.

Things are looking up or so. Maybe a little green and blue between

#today another beautiful day. Optimistically hoping rainy season decides it’s had enough. Normally in Siem Reap gods from May to end of October. This seems close. How about doing a solid for me Khmer rain gods? Give us an early end. Anyways here I sit at Domo […]

@WarnerCrocker I enjoy it. I have the regular 13. There’s some things Apple could fix. Some things developers will do. I enjoy seeing them change their game.
