Works on the "cetacean alternative" spec evo project!
OCs, monsters, touhou and paleoart!
Something else i've noticed is the lack of humans in the series. Many paleodocs choose to forgo human interactions for the sake of either making an episode about them, or showing off the "last world without humans". Not a decision i like, but i get it. Apparently this was also an exec call.

I understand that the Apple execs are the reason that few names are said in the show (a decision i'll never understand), so i wonder if that's also the case for the lack of sad moments. PP1 and 2 could do it fine, But with mammals it's harder to market.

But i'd still recommend it a lot- the effects are amazing, and the research that went into the models, behaviors, and creature designs was no doubt very intense.
Despite my prior comments, the show succeeds in appearing like a filmed nature documentary. Just one that's a little bit watered down

because the series shows plenty of non hunting behaviors.

But it's lacking that sort of melancholic realism that makes shows like walking with beasts work. Nature is beautiful and cruel, and the ice ages were a time of great life and great loss. IMO the show only gives us half of that puzzle.

With few exceptions, if the segment is about a prey animal or herbivore, that herbivore will make it out fine. Few animals that are the focus of a segment die.
Some of the most memorable moments in documentaries come from hunts, and quite tragic moments in them.
It's not something too major- 2/3

I didn't know this released tbh- i was going to look for Prehistoric planet ice age, which i'll be watching next. Super excited!

Regardless, I'd definitely recommend watching it. It stands on its own very well, and as always, Del Toro's sense of aesthetics is impeccable.

It seems as if almost everyone it hurts is in self-defense. Which, if I recall correctly, wasn't the case by the end of the book.

I feel like certain moments also made Victor a bit cartoonishly evil? Particularly in the bedroom. Which is fine, but it made the ending less believable for me.

They're some of my favourite movies tbh

definitely worth it :D

Ohhh, definitely agree then. Unless it was a specific request from fujimoto (possible given how involved he is), I doubt they'd add that much. Which is a shame because that easily could have been a whole arc rather than about 1 chapter.

Idk why you'd say it won't happen- the anime added quite a few little character scenes that weren't in the manga, and the movie elevated what was already there. We'll be waiting a while, but when part 2 is animated we'll definitely be eating good.

Makima's favourite hobby was stealing other people's lines lol, she did it to Quanxi and Reze too

they were framed in like the exact same way as Denji and Reze to the point you could reasonably extrapolate what happened between them while they were offscreen by looking at Akiangel in certain places.
