A massive well done to @mrenglishmaths.bsky.social and @nimtassoc.bsky.social for putting together an absolutely phenomenal inaugural conference - big things to come for maths in Northern Ireland!!

Anybody following @education-ni.gov.uk's recent work will notice @innerdrive.bsky.social's involvement.
We are delighted that our keynote speaker in August will be @singhamarbeerg.bsky.social who has contributed to InnerDrive content and spoken at ResearchED conferences.

I was very fortunate today to be involved in a conversation with the Academy for Mathematical Sciences at Stormont today.
They are committed to including NI and committed to including school based education in their priorities.

From what I know, it's usually
- unit paper in summer Y11
- resit/upgrade in November Y12
- completion paper in summer Y12

But I know some do November Y11 as well or even try a completion paper early. I think I like the modular approach in general but it needs to be managed

Yeah binary is good I think. Not too difficult but quite interesting.
Yeah the modular system is definitely different but there are plenty of schools taking advantage of it, we still do it linearly though. It seems the norm is just to teach through the module spec instead of by topic/broad area

NEW PAPER suggests that:

• Teacher enthusiasm matters, but...
• it's often not noticed by students
• and sometimes even misinterpreted

Dial up that zeal folks (and remove all ambiguity)

Do you find there are many differences? Without ever having to compare, it seems we have lots of little topics

4 for me but joined a school as HOD and had to take it. Could have waited a bit longer and maybe would rather have if I'm honest.
Not everyone wants to either!
