May have a longer critique of the latest disappointing & depressing Chicago Architecture Biennial but here's two signs that captures the vibe. Note that both of these signs are placed in such a way that people looking at the work will not see them.
A hastily scotched tape sign near one of the many non functional installations. This sign is on a wall several feet from the installation, so you may never see it. Hastily taped sign with curling edges that says "Please do not touch the model. This is not interactive." This is, of course taped in a spot where most people will not see it.

To explain one of the references: In the 70s & 80s The New Yorker was known for a high number of very placid, still illustrations. There were still funny, dynamic & highly artful ones but in between it was the Perry Como of magazine covers (sometimes internally as well).

Not only a fine example of New Yorker calm emphaszing the lack of action, but one that gave the feeling that maybe the magazine had retired to the Hamptons or upstate.

Yeah nope, just advocating "talking" about it while indulging hate, and then more austerity once in power - basically Bill Clinton but even worse.
For this to work, we can’t get sidetracked on our message. The Republican Party’s greatest weapon has always been its uncanny ability to turn us against one another. It cannot be said enough: The era of performative woke politics from 2020 to 2024 has left a lasting stain on our brand, particularly with rural voters and male voters. The term “Latinx” was despised even by many Latino people. Calling folks “BIPOC” should have never been a thing. “Defund the police” was a terrible idea. Polling shows that nearly 70 percent of Americans think the Democratic Party is “out of touch” and that it is more interested in social issues than economic ones.

I think proof of how long this has been true (at least at middle management and above) can be seen in how drinking was perfectly acceptable.
