this administration is nothing but DEI for stupid, unqualified white men
#GVerse Um. WTF???
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy: "Pilots need to stop depending on air traffic controllers. They need to suck it up and go with their gut feelings."
This is the stupidest and most dangerous administration in history.

I want to recommend this book, which is available for free by PDF.

I love the emphasis on cooking skill, suggestions on uses of leftovers, stocking your pantry, and how to substitute ingredients at hand.
The SNAP benefit is now $6/day, so the prices are dated.

Time for a semi annual sincere post.
I genuinely appreciate all the people here who are trying to be the best version of themselves. To not tolerate hatred, bigotry, persecution in a time where it is rampant is a radical act.
You are seen and appreciated.

Been reflecting on the note my principal sent out before the lockdown drill yesterday that casually added that a lockdown would be called if ICE was seen anywhere on our campus. When you have lost the instinctive compliance of people like him routine governance is much harder.

I would like to invite any other Catholics in the U.S. to consider joining me in writing a letter to urge our bishops to stand solidarity with our migrant brothers and sisters.

First week of school! Perfect fire weather with a high of 105°, 8% humidity, and light and consistent wind. Adults are talking about the weather rather than what they did over break.
Good news is that the kids seem excited about what I did to fix up the library over the summer.

I'm looking to send my son 1 poem per week that will help him persevere through the next 12 weeks of Marine boot camp. I'm going to handwrite and mail them. Aside from "If" and "Invictus", what motivational poems from diverse poets would you recommend? Any recommendations #TeacherSky?

8 AM and 90°, and people wonder why AZ doesn't have daylight savings. We're naturally nocturnal all summer.

You can't bomb your way into peace. But they keep trying like the ending will somehow change this time.

Hmm, I wonder who else has a big event scheduled for June 14? This is an encouraging sign that we are still a free country.

Down to only 12 books still out.
We don't charge late fees and the maximum charge for a returned book is $5.00. Had a kid this spring who was crying because she had put a book in the washing machine. The book was totally destroyed but she did return it so $5.00.

It should always be safe to pray.
BREAKING: For the second time in two weeks, clergy and faith leaders have been arrested while praying in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda, part of a larger protest against the GOP-led budget.

*was available for every class for library time
*when a 2nd grader asked "Dad and I saw a movie last night that was based on a book, I want to read that book." I counties book.

I would love to have access to these resources as well! I've had teachers ask about resources for protecting the many immigrant kids in our school.
Question for long-term organizers (only, please): Are there good resources on how to strategically balance ethics and impact while protecting at-risk groups?

What does it say about the country that we can no longer in good faith point students to gov sites for research? Just... Depressing and infuriating. (But on brand for this admin that we now have to pay to access good info.)
I am teaching research right now and it’s for 7th grade science and I am pushing the use of our databases hard rather than going to the .gov websites. So far though the rare disease site seems to be up and running.

Wishing all a joyous Feast of Epiphany! Time to reflect on the wonderful gifts we have received from strangers from distant lands. In my own case I work at a school that has a child of immigrants in every classroom, immigrants staff, teachers and the principal. They give me joy every day.

Blade runner is an actual job title? I know anyone an underengaged kid who will be excited to hear that.
We’re aware of the bot followers. We know it’s really irritating for yall. The blade runners are working hard and we’re looking at bigger steps.

Primary school classroom door decoration contests can also be amazingly passive aggressive. 1st grade isn't playing fair! Yetis are a myth!
One of the friars is trying to annoy the Advent purist Father Superior with a gaudy, lighted Christmas wreath on his door. Religious life. Where passive aggression rises to a fine art.

Last week I sent my Mom's advent wreath and a set of candles to my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas. This will be the first year I will not see them at all over the holidays and I miss them so much.
I love the hope and anticipation for a joyous future the advent wreath brings.
