but going back to the original question about whether they'd been penalised, as long as it doesn't go off the grid I would suspect that it was fine

When I was a teenager, it was very firm that you DID extend in Science or Maths and did NOT in the other but I can't remember which way round it was....

I've not marked any stats papers that have had this in it so I hesistate to lean either way but my preference is not go beyond the max/min of the data set and to repeatedly have the conversation about the dangers of extrapolation (as that's always a one marker with my current exam board)

It's human nature to remember the good bits & forget the rest, especially when you will have had such a big impact on your students! I always talk glowingly about my 1st school for what it taught me but the more experience I get the more I appreciate how utterly complex & challenging it really was.

I wouldn't say it's typical of all schools, but it's definitely typical of some.

3-6 months of "just looking" and then when we found one we really liked that jump started the seriously looking each time.
Completing a sale is taking forever now though, no part of the system seems to move fast anymore.

I wasn't pleased when the modular system was ditched in England but I do miss the clear and consistent expectation on teachers and students!
I wouldn't go so far as to say that I think it's better, but I do miss it

It is! And so few have shared what they do online that I'm not getting a sense of what is reasonable/achieveable/typical within the system.
Another reason why it reminds me of 2017 😆

I'm constantly surprised at how little depth there is in M2 and M6 compared to the Foundation tier in England. Love the addition of binary though!
The modular system vs three exams in May/June of Y12 makes sequencing the curriculum more challenging than I'd like. M2 should be a non calc exam!
