I should have known better, though. What’s worse: I really thought I was something.

I don’t do that kind of work anymore. I’m not saying I’m a good person now — so far from it, and I should probably face some karmic justice for a dozen years of doing all that harm in my 20s/30s — but at least I’m not actively harming people through my work now.

This guy’s an eye-opening follow. I used to do small-town high school sports coverage for newspapers. Reading NKL made me realize that I’d spent a career exploiting teenagers’ labor & that, honestly, I *was* the bad person most people believed I was. I’ll never live that down, but it’s best to know.
