Autistic, ADHDer, chronic pain, write-off.
If I was the left I would find it concerning that Scotland has pretty much stopped diagnosing those conditions.

Streeting has just ordered a review (don’t get me wrong, it’s bullshit, but it’s much less harmful than what’s actually happening north of the border).

Interesting that the article at no point mentions Scotland has four official languages, English is just one of them.

Here’s people worse: Neil Gray, Tom Arthur, John Swinney.

The proposal Streeting is considering has been the way things work for ADHD in Scotland for around a year and you didn’t give this much of a shit.

But hey, you can’t use it to have a go at the Labour Party.

Reminder. That’s the SNP’s fault. They deliberately stopped people being diagnosed months ago. It’s only now it’s happening in England that people are complaining

This has been going on in Scotland for years and none of your ilk cared. But we can’t have English people treated like this

The idea of denying ADHD diagnosis probably gets me more angry than a lot of things in domestic politics. It’s such cruelty inflicted by people who smile and claim that they care.

They’ve no idea what it’s like to not understand your own brain, anyone prolonging that is being actively cruel.

What did the think would happen in 2008 when they introduced adult diagnosis but did absolutely nothing to discover people who had been missed as children.

The alternative was people dying much younger than they should and never understanding their own brain.

I almost laughed when the minister for mental wellbeing in Scotland said we should move away from diagnosis of autism and ADHD to a needs based approach and then directed people to a page of resources only for autistic people. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Interesting your only criticism is of Streeting.

Or it could end up being more. So you would have autism, ADHD and AuDHD. Same for other conditions, each combination could end up being a different diagnosis.

What ever it happens we know nd people will figure it out, and about a decade later doctors and researchers will listen to us.

As someone on benefits I like that’s what they’re called. It’s a benefit to the individual and a benefit to society.

Using the term benefits goes back to at least Harold Wilson’s government.

Also I’ve never accidentally scratched streaming service, my records back in the day, not so much.

Do you have ANY conception of how difficult it already is for disabled people to get accommodations? Do you think its as easy as rolling up to profs/unis and saying hey, I have x disability and they roll out the red carpet? Disabled students have to do so much work to "earn" accommodations.

even by making high profile punishments of flagrant cheaters you’ll probably still end up with disabled people taking the brunt of it.
