guy at work was asking me about candlemaking recently. specifically how i make them scented. holding the buttercream scented one he says "if i made a candle i'd just mix in the actual ingredient. you know, to make it organic"

update: i have cleaned out the stones and replaced them with a tuft of potting fibre with a $2 and $1 coin on top to weigh it down. now we wait....
had all my neighbours over this week for drinks and while i was telling them about birds stealing the potting fibre in my planters for their nests, one of them goes "haven't they also been leaving you those white stones? that's their payment"

debated gifting a boss one of my candles for xmas as thanks for all the eggs he gave me, but didn't want it to come off as a kissass tactic. sense-tested it with a friend who knows him better and he said "i think he'd really like it, i suspect he leads a lonely existence" and now i'm SAD

the best piece of advice i ever got is that other people's opinions of you are none of your damn business. so the best thing you can possibly do is just live a good fucking life, knowing everything you do will piss them off outrageously
