bluesky some weeks ago: we're a platform for artists! we don't have an engagement algorithm and we don't plan on ever using AI!

bluesky now: we'll only accept artists that have been baptised and only draw sfw wholesome holy art

Thank you so much for your answer. I've had a fear of obscenity laws and considering the political climate, I'm considering stepping away from art that would be considered obscene or "immoral" for the most part - though writing, I may still indulge. I still believe all obscenity laws strangle art.

Would you happen to know if written works about underage sexuality (like fanfiction) can be illegal in the same way that drawn lolisho can be?

my non-lawyer but pragmatic advice to any artist would be to stop posting any image that contains an apparent minor in which anyone's genitals are visible (not just the apparent minor's) and the image depicts oral-oral, oral-genital, oral-anal, genital-genital, or genital-anal contact,

or depicts masturbation, sadomasochism, or bestiality, with or without visible genitals or implying coercion, force, or nonconsent. Whatever you think about whether it *should* be legal, juries are being *extremely* consistent in finding it's not.

I've mentioned in a few places, but: we are in the middle of yet another wave of moral panic about The Internet, and it has a few different arms (social media is destroying kids' brains, predators are everywhere on the internet lying in wait for kids, etc etc).

There is no reasoning with a moral panic and no amount of constitutional, moral, practical , scientific, psychological, or historical argument will sway a jury that's been influenced by one. The only way to win that case is to not have it brought against you in the first place.
