The other argument is messier with a compliant SCOTUS. You and I can agree that it’s all illegal… but I honestly see judges trying to create barriers for SCOTUS to shadow docket. Simplifying the arguments.
Oh, I fully can agree… but I think there is a peril that there two separate legal questions to be addressed. Nationalization of NG… and deployment against US citizens. The first priority is to keep them out of the streets, which currently is intact.
To this layperson these seems like an actually good decision. They aren’t touching the right for Trump to call up and command troops… which would be sticky to argue jurisdiction. But actual use against citizens is the jurisdictional claim they can and should make.
There is a lot of wiggle room in what was released. That’s not the only word usage that jumps out. Exceptional could even mean that despite everything going on it’s exceptional that he is upright. I’m pretty sure this isn’t close to the first draft.
Is this solely retribution or is he also seeking some sort of decision that helps his appeals on his bank fraud? His is much more worse, with intent confirmed by trial, but I wonder. But then that’s giving them credit for intelligence that I don’t think exists.
Seriously, the Dems have nothing to lose at this stage. What they are asking for is not huge... protections of the ACA subsidizes. Any other promises would be empty.
Force them to kill the filibuster. Let the MAGA own this 100%.
How ironic is it making hospitals, some with the actual Samaritan in the actual name, turn away treating people because of who they are? Can those of us who went to bible camp ever remember a time there wasn’t a Good Samaritan skit at least once during the week?
So many questions. Does this base fly the Qatari flag? Those on the base subject to US law? A child born on the base a US citizen? Local building codes be enforced? Taxes paid? Infrastructure costs? Foreign military base on US soil?
This reeks of harassment. Expecting to have your own room and then find out you did not… having to share a room with your boss? Orlando has thousands of rooms even if that hotel was full. Private sector HR would have nailed him to the wall.
Renfield. The archetype of the one who basically sells their soul to be near his master. No matter how hard he tries he will never escape the embrace... and be a leader on his own. A tragic character, but one for which we have little sympathy. Renfield chooses to be a servant to the monster.
Have you ever been in secure memory care facility? The door is usually locked needing a code to exit (when not an emergency). When I went to visit my grandmother I asked what is the code or do I need to get you to let me out? They said look up. The code was on the ceiling. Never had a wanderer.
But any ceasefire and withdrawal will open up the devastation for everyone to really see and document. I find it hard to see Netanyahu allowing that to happen.
Unless this is a fishing expedition… which it is… there is very little classified info related to the actual charge itself. They claim he gave false testimony.
But as they take depositions they can muddy the waters by asking questions that may be classified.
Right out of central casting as a Renfield to Trump. The archetype if the cross between the human and the monster. The monster being what they are because that's how they are made... the Renfield is the human who chooses to be connected to the monster. Many feel that is the lowest of the low.
As a deputy chief of White House staff, one of 6, he is a political appointee that does not require Senate confirmation. As such he is not in the organizational chart to be able to actually give orders or instructions beyond the duties of the Chief of Staff.
The Rule of Law requires a belief in that there is a-process to any government action that allows for the instant ability question the authority. Arraignment is public notice of what the state is holding you. It should be valid for immigrant documentations as well.
That waiter was rude? Raid the restaurant. Cashier wasn't nice? Catch them at work.
Without any mechanism to actually protect the rights of all people... they can manifest a culture of fear. They are the ultimate in bullies, weak in character... lacking of morals.
ICE will eventually distill down to exactly the type of people that run in paramilitaries around the world. With little fear of oversight they revel in their perceived power. The masks let them run around in their own communities, identifying people to target. That neighbor they hate? Put in a tip.
Elimination of the tariffs won't magically make these markets come back. It will take committed trade delegations and diplomacy... all these states, red and blue, spent millions to develop these markets all to have them wiped out in an instant by a petty tyrant wannabe.
